Re: College Credit Plus Program (CCP+) – Ohio's dual enrollment program
Ohio Revised code 3365 established a College Credit Plus Program which allows college-ready students in grades seven through twelve, who qualify for college admission (each college will set their own criteria for student eligibility), to take college level courses while in middle or high school. These students will earn college credit and high school graduation credit through the successful completion of college courses. The purpose of the program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and expose students to options beyond the high school classroom. Students may have to take end-of-course (PARCC) exams, depending on the subject area. Once enrolled in a college class, the student can only take 120 total college credit hours up until high school graduation.
Interested students, parents and guardians are encouraged to attend a meeting at Townsend Community School on Tuesday, January 10th at 6:00 p.m. David Janik, Manager of BGSU Firelands College Access Programs, will be presenting important steps that students need to follow in order to enroll in the CCP+ Program. Mrs. Cook will be available at this meeting to assist students in grades 6-8 and Mrs. Lott will be available to assist students in grades 9-11. Students/Parents must notify the school prior to April 1st, 2017 of their intent to participate in the College Credit Plus Program. Students and Parents must sign a form indicating that appropriate counseling was provided and all responsibilities for participation are understood.
