Superintendent's Report:

Mr. Schroer told the Board that as of Friday February 27, the District has experienced nine (9) calamity days due to the winter weather conditions. Mr. Schroer reminded the Board that in accordance with the School Calendar adopted last year, this school year we would make up days in June. Mr. Schroer stated that with all the testing going on and the number of calamity days and school delays, the administration believes that it would be beneficial to the education of our students to extend the school day by a half hour beginning next Monday March 9th for the remainder of the school.

In order to accomplish this, we need to have the support of the teachers. Within the collective bargaining agreement, teachers work a seven hour and twenty-five minute (7:25) day. The union would have to agree to extend the teacher work day by a half hour to seven hours and fifty-five minutes (7:55). Mr. Schroer reported that the teachers have approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that they would agree to extend the work day in lieu of make-up days in June.

Motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Kelble to approve modifying the school day by extending the day by a half hour beginning March 9 through the remainder of the year, and to limit extended days to two days, and extend additional days in case the number of calamity days would require us to make up days to meet state required number of annual hours of instruction; Roll call: Mr. Miller: aye, Mr. Schoenegge: aye, Mrs. Kelble: aye, Mr. Lippert: aye.

Motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Schoenegge, to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with the Margaretta Teachers' Association to extend the teacher day by an additional half hour from March 9 to the end of the school year; and to extend the school days by one day if the District has two additional calamity days from March 2nd through the end of the school year; and extend the school days by two days if the District has four or more calamity days from March 2nd through the end of the school year; and if the necessary, to extend additional school days to meet the state minimum requirements for student instruction hours; Roll Call: Mr. Schoenegge: aye, Mrs. Kelble: aye, Mr. Miller: aye, Mr. Lippert: aye.

Motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Schoenegge, to adjourn the meeting having no further business to come before the board. Roll call: Mrs. Kelble: aye, Mr. Miller: aye, Mr. Schoenegge: aye, Mr. Lippert: aye.
